Why visit Moyse’s Hall?
A unique opportunity for schoolchildren to visit one of the oldest Medieval buildings in Bury St Edmunds, which houses a variety of collections on art, local and social history, the Suffolk Regiment, the Red Barn Murder, crime and punishment, death and witchcraft, and medieval life.
Children can experience a tour of the museum and its collections as well as workshops on art and history, and handle original or replica artefacts.
We also loan heritage boxes to schools for subject such as Art, History and Science. Please find a full list and information below.
A visit to Moyse’s Hall Museum will include:
- the development of the town around the great abbey shrine of St Edmund
- hear the story of Bury St Edmunds at a time when the abbey town was of national and international importance
- handle replica objects
- learn about Victorian life and times
- take part in lively group discussions led by staff about the collections at Moyse's Hall, encouraging groups to draw their own conclusions
